Aging in Homelessness
Along with two other professionals, Dr. Kaup drew up a report detailing the supportive needs of our aging population that are experiencing homelessness.
Over the past 30 years, the average age of an individual experiencing homelessness rose from 35 years old to 50. Along with this rise in average age of homeless individuals comes a change in their needs that will most support them. If we want to reduce homelessness, Kaup et al., presents that we must approach these needs carefully and accurately to best support these individuals.
In “Older Persons Experiencing Homelessness: Their Perceptions and Needs Influencing Supportive Interior Design Architecture”, the profiles and needs of older adults is presented along with the design strategies that best support them.
