Acoustics for Aging

While we are aware of the exponential increase of our aging population in recent years, more often than not, even award-winning spaces for aging do not properly consider acoustics. Dr. Kaup and Post approach this subject in their 2005 journal titled: “Establishing Acoustical Standards within Environments for the Aging: What Should We Be Building?”

In the journal, they outline into the acoustical elements that support the aging population. This is a critical area of design consideration as one in three residents living in long term care settings have some form of hearing impairment. Read the journal article to learn more.
