Career Options
The human development and family science (HDFS) major offers a broad range of coursework and experiences that prepare students for a wide variety of career options.
The National Council on Family Relations website helps students see the different career opportunities in HDFS. Students can also learn what types of careers exist with a degree in Family Science.
Our students are successful in securing meaningful employment in a range of careers after graduation as well as admission to competitive graduate and professional programs. Here are some examples of recent job and graduate/professional school placements.
More information on job placements for HDFS (and other majors) can be found on the K-State Career Services website.
Exploring Careers
As a HDFS student, you are not alone as you explore the many opportunities available to you. Opportunities to purposefully explore career and graduate/professional opportunities are built into our curriculum, and HDFS faculty and advisors are available to answer any questions you might have.
The "Career Exploration" section of the K-State Career Services website is also useful to many of our students as they explore the different opportunities available to HDFS students.
HDFSCareers.com is a website hosted by Dr. Erica Jordan, a faculty member in HDFS at the University of Houston. The website includes podcasts, interviews, and a blog covering issues related to HDFS careers.
