Professional Biography
Laura’s professional career began in the non-profit sector at Family Scholar House in Louisville, KY, helping families to end the cycle of poverty through education. Laura served as the Academic Services Coordinator to single-parent students and their children, providing Academic Advising, early childhood literacy programming, and monthly family workshops. Laura then went on to work in the insurance industry for nine years before transitioning back to higher education. In 2019, Laura began working at Kansas State University in the Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) as a Financial Aid Specialist. In OSFA, Laura managed the University’s tuition assistance benefit programs, the Federal Work Study, Kansas Career Work Study, and Distance Education student’s financial aid budgets and packages. Laura has always enjoyed helping individuals realize their career goals through education and is very excited to be able to continue that passion in the Applied Human Sciences department.
Personal Information
Laura was born and raised in Minnesota before heading to Texas for college where she met her husband, Adam. Laura and Adam have moved to five different states together during Adam’s active-duty Army career. They’ve now made their home with their two sons and two dogs in Manhattan, and love living in the Flint Hills. Outside of work, Laura enjoys volunteering on Ft. Riley, reading, and visiting the surrounding communities.
