Dietetics
Our Program
Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, RDNs, are health care professionals that translate the science of food and nutrition to enhance the well-being of individuals and groups. As specialists in nutrition and nutrition services management, RDNs are present in a variety of settings ranging from acute care hospitals to military foodservice operations. Program courses focus on foundational concepts, scientific research, behavioral science, social science and management skills.
Graduates will qualify for application to a post-baccalaureate supervised practice and graduate degree program, both of which are required to be eligible to sit for the RDN credentialing exam. K-State offers both a graduate degree program and a 12-month dietetic internship that provides supervised practice within the state of Kansas that is available to graduates of the bachelor’s program. As an alternate pathway, graduates are eligible to take the certification exam to earn the Dietetics Technician, Registered, NDTR, credential instead of immediately completing a supervised practice and/or graduate degree.
This program is available on the Manhattan campus and through K-State Online. K-State’s Bachelor of Science in dietetics and the Master of Science with dietetic internship are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics, ACEND.
