Implementation Timeline
We are continuing our partnership with Emergent Method as they will guide and manage the implementation of our reorganization over the 2024-2025 academic year. Although it will take more than a year to complete, the steps we take now are essential for setting us up for long-term success. To ensure a smooth transition, it is crucial that we begin establishing the necessary systems and processes immediately.
December 2024
2024 has been a year of remarkable progress for our college community. We are energized by the progress we have made and excited to share the latest updates on our journey.
This calendar year, highlights of our reorganization work include:
- Completing a stakeholder-driven strategic planning process, which resulted in the creation of our HHS 2030 Strategic Plan (pdf), which was approved by university leadership in September
- Finalizing the organizational structure of our college around the three schools, which was put forward as recommendations by our College Committee on Planning (CCOP) (pdf) in spring 2024
- Navigating significant changes to our IT and digital infrastructure and footprint in response to the university-wide IT cyberattack
- Creating and shifting our internal functions and structures to our newly adopted three-school model, which has included changes to school and course codes, continued work on creation of new budgets, rethinking of physical space and assets, and shifting of many of the critical internal functions of the college
- Upgrading our built space, including new wraps, signage, and furniture in Justin Hall to provide a welcoming space for our college community
- Hiring three school directors to lead our new schools, each of whom has worked diligently together and with college leadership to build the structures and processes that will enable each school to do its best work
- Creating a college-wide workload policy, which was approved by faculty vote this month
As we move into the future, we are eager to welcome new associate directors who will further strengthen our school structure. We are also looking forward to working closely with our community to develop school-level documents, which will guide our schools for years to come, in addition to upcoming changes around where key internal functions and supports are housed, and how we most effectively use our built space.
