Recruitment and Hiring Request Process
Each position type has a specific process. Please read clearly to avoid delays in your request. Documents on this page will require eID login to access.
Faculty positions
Regular, term, or tenure-track appointments – these employees are hired for half-time or greater for longer than 90 days.
Regular, term process
- Submit a completed HHS Faculty Position Request form (docx) to your School Director. They will forward approved requests to Dean Behnke and Karen Horton.
- If a position is approved by the Dean for recruitment, submit the following to Kayla Schmidt:
- A position announcement (template in development)
- The approved position request form
- An approved search committee
- Search committees for tenure track recruitments require at least one member from outside HHS and must be approved in advance by Dean Behnke.
- Search committees for non-tenure track recruitments require at least one member from outside the unit/School and must be approved in advance by Karen or Kayla.
- Once the position is submitted for recruitment Human Resources will approve and post the position or respond to Kayla with questions. Once it is approved and posted Kayla will send information regarding accessing the applications to the head of the search committee.
- Candidates are screened via PageUp. When the search committee is ready to schedule interviews, send Kayla information on the applicants moving forward, and the reasons for those not moving forward. This needs to be done for each round of interviews
- After all rounds of interviews are completed and reference checks have been conducted, the search committee should provide all information to the School Director. The School Director needs to give Dean Behnke the following information for his approval before an offer is made:
- Candidate recommended for hire, along with justification, and application materials for that candidate.
- Search committee pros and cons for all applicants interviewed, and justification for selection/non-selection by the search committee.
- Initial distribution of tenths requested.
- Salary amount requested, along with information on any start-up requested and hiring bonus requested, as applicable.
- If Dean Behnke approves, the School Director will make a contingent offer to the selected candidate.
- Once the offer is verbally accepted, let Kayla know and she will prepare the offer letter and contract and route for signatures as appropriate.
- Kayla will upload the documents into PageUp and move the candidate through the final offer and onboarding process.
- The head of the search committee needs to send all documentation relating to the search to Kayla (any notes from interviews, etc.).
